Please Support This Important Work

Many young adults find the church to be irrelevant, judgmental, and out-of-touch rather than a place filled with love, grace, and hope in Christ. In addition, many young Christians have trouble connecting their faith in Christ with their day-to-day work and friendships.

The good news is that churches in The Fellows Initiative network are experiencing the exact opposite. In fact, many of the churches that host TFI Fellows programs report that Millennials and Gen Z are among their fastest growing age groups!

Through our commitment to Christ-centered, church-based, whole-life discipleship of recent college graduates, TFI fellows programs are a bright spot in an otherwise difficult story. TFI Fellows programs are training the emerging generation of servant leaders for the church, workplace, and society. With your financial support and partnership, TFI can continue to grow and impact more churches, cities, and fellows every year.

Highlights from 2023

While we are still facing some post-COVID impacts in our campus recruiting, we are seeing a return to normal with the TFI Common Applications. Thanks be to God for seeing us through such a challenging season! Please pray for the TFI community as we, by God’s grace, move into a new season of growth and Kingdom impact.

Here are a few highlights from the Fellows year

  • Growing Network. There are now 34 Fellows programs in 30 cities (both high watermarks for our network), 220 fellows this year, and more than 3,200 alumni.

  • New Program. The Davidson Fellows, Louisville Bridge Fellows, and Space Coast Fellows are all enjoying their first year in 2023-24. At least two additional programs are also in the works for a 2024-25 launch.

  • Training More Churches. Twice each year, we offer a 2-day training event called TFI Come & See for leaders thinking about starting new Fellows programs. In 2023, we trained people from 11 churches. Our New Director Training program has also had a busy year. It is an intensive, detailed program that incorporates best practices from Fellows programs around the country.

  • TFI Common Application. The TFI Common Application allows people to apply to three programs at no cost. We have returned to pre-COVID levels of activity with the Common App.

  • Exciting New Curriculum Project. Thanks to a generous grant from the Second Presbyterian Foundation of Memphis, we have been developing new teaching materials for current and new Fellows programs. We will be launching these materials in the spring of 2024. The result will be a complete graduate course for Fellows as well as a comprehensive curriculum for Roundtable, the weekly gathering of fellows.

Looking Forward

The Lord has richly blessed The Fellows Initiative for many years. We are confident that he will continue to bless and grow this work, even if our growth is a bit slower during the pandemic.

Here are a few things we are working toward

  • New Fellows Programs! One new TFI Fellows programs are launching in the fall of 2024:

  • Campus Recruitment. Reaching college seniors is a challenge for every local Fellows program. Our goal is to fill every TFI Fellows class. To do this, wee are expanding our recruiting efforts with more campus visits, webinars, and partnerships with national organizations such as the Consortium of Christian Study Centers.

  • Our Conference Program. The National Fellows Conference in November 2023 was a great success with close to 300 people in attendance. Our speakers this year included Rev. Dr. Todd Smedley of Fourth Presbyterian Church in Bethesda, Maryland, David Spickard of 11 Ten Leadership, and Denine Blevins of Parakaleo.

  • TFI Directors Summit. Every June, the TFI leaders gather for a time of training and fellowship. This event is a wonderful time for the leaders to encourage and serve one another.

  • Completion of the Curriculum Project. Thanks to the generosity of the Second Presbyterian Foundation, we have received a second year of support for this project. It will enable us to complete this strategic investment for our network.

Thank you!

We are so pleased to see the growth God has brought to TFI in recent years. With your partnership, we are excited about all He will do this year. Together, we are working to reverse the trend of church abandonment among young adults while equipping them for lives of servant leadership in the name of Jesus Christ. Our goal is to continue to scale this impact to more churches, cities, and young leaders.

Partner with Us!

Your partnership is key to TFI's growth to new churches in new cities and regions. Please consider making a one-time or recurring gift to support this important Kingdom ministry.
