GREENSBORO, NORTH CAROLINA
Greensboro Fellows is a nine month (September-May) spiritual and professional development program for recent college graduates. Our mission is to “equip young professionals to know God deeply, develop as a leader in Christ, and impact the world by advancing God’s kingdom.” We build a foundation for the rest of your life to prepare you to integrate your faith in all areas of your life, including your career.
Greensboro is a beautiful city located in the center of North Carolina. We are 2 hours from the Appalachian Mountains, and 3 hours from the beach. We make trips to both. Greensboro is a mid-size town (275,000) with a quaint downtown, full of great coffee and food, large trees and lakes, greenways and parks. Greensboro began to be settled in 1750 and is full of history with historical homes and buildings. Our town is named for a revolutionary war site, and has a heart for social justice and racial reconciliation. Greensboro is the location of the “sit in” at Woolworth by courageous NC A&T students, instrumental in the Civil Rights movement.
Our weekly schedule includes working 25 hours a week (in an area of your interest), spiritual formation small group, family dinners, four seminary level classes, hearing from influential leaders in our community, meeting with a mentor, volunteering at a local ministry, and worshipping together. You will learn the rhythms of a healthy Christian life, including opportunities to meet with a spiritual director, and a silence/solitude retreat at St. Francis Prayer Center in Stoneville NC.
Other events we do to help a Fellow grow and develop: Leadership Development with The Center for Creative Leadership (rated #2 and #3 in the world for leadership development—based out of Greensboro); Leadership Development with pastoral staff of Church of the Redeemer; Volunteering with Capernaum Young Life (ministry to special need teens); Trips to the beach and mountains of NC, trips to Charleston NC and Washington DC; and a variety of community building experiences like food truck festivals and game nights.
We end our program with a two-week mission trip to Rwanda. This is always a highlight for the Fellows as we see God at work in this great country, and meet brothers and sisters in Christ.
We have Fellows from all walks of life and called to a variety different careers. Some of our graduates have gone to medical school, law school, master’s degrees, business, technology, teachers, non-profits, para-church ministries, pastors and missionaries. A significant part of the program is helping each Fellow discern God’s future for them, and equip them to make a difference where ever God calls them.
